We’ve long been fans of the My PlayHome app which can best be described as a highly interactive digital dollhouse. We reviewed it here earlier this year. I love that when we’re traveling with Little or waiting in car pool lines for her brothers, she can continue with her imaginative play, albeit in a virtual world. Best of all, I don’t have to schlep a real dollhouse with us when we leave town.
Earlier this month, the developers released the My PlayHome School app which expands the play options into the classroom. Now kids can use their imagination to explore everything about “school” by conducting experiments in the science room, having lunch in the cafeteria, putting on a school play and pretending to be a teacher. The navigation of the app is very simple even for youngsters. You simply use arrows to walk in between the different rooms in the school. This game has the most detail of all of the My PlayHome scenarios. I love the functionality and interactive capabilities in each of the scenes. In the cafeteria you can put a cup under the juice dispenser and fill it up, you can turn on the faucet at the bathroom sink and kids can write on all the chalkboards. The lockers even open and kids can put away their figure’s backpacks.
Since I loaded it on Little’s iPad, she’s had a blast with it. It even kept her entertained on our 3 hr plane ride this morning. I would highly recommend this app to any parent with a young child that loves imaginative play. $2.99 in the app store.
